About

S H I A N : :

Hello! Welcome to Shian! My name is Joanne, and this page will provide you with more information on who I am and a little bit about this place.

About:

  • This is my 3rd blog, after my first at thespoke.com and second via msn spaces. Fourth if you include Deviantart’s journals. WordPress has become the 4th/5th reincarnation under the name Shian.
  • This blog would be categorized as a ‘personal blog’ for the reasons and purposes of personal reflection, keeping people up to date about I’m up to, and a vehicle for the dissemination of my own thoughts and ideologies for readers to enjoy.

Me:

  • I am a Fine Arts major at the Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto, currently studying Graphic Design.
  • My paintings explore themes of binary differences such as rationality vs spontaneity, abstraction and representation and fact vs fiction; suggesting that reality is a shifting state.  My paintings embrace such a reality and suggest what is seen, is not only the work of a piece, but the viewer as well.
  • I am an artist, writer, dreamer, music enthusiast, philosopher, truth seeker, home organizer, subscriber to faith, poet, and a work in progress.

Why Shian?

  • Shian, or Cyan is one of Nightmare’s songs off their Libido album.

  • Hi, nice to meet you !

  • I like the blog. Very clearly expressed.
Also, just curious as to why the song “Shian” had such a powerful impact, that you had your blog named after it?

    Regards,

I don’t even think it was the power of the song that had me name a blog after it, but partially in the observation that it had 2 names Shian and Cyan, but was still one. At the time, I had friends who were looking for name alias, or even alter egos. I found mine in Shian. It was great love for the band to have wanted to have something of my own, but have something indicative of it. The things emotions have you doing.
